I have been collecting and learning deeply about our Earth's gems and minerals since 2014.

(content warning) My beautiful sister Amanda Rose got very sick and passed away by suicide at 19 years old, in 2015, which was huge shock to my nervous system (I had just turned 21). I had to go very much inward to grieve and physically survive this chapter, within which I was also diagnosed with Lyme disease.

At the time, I was studying plant and soil science etc, determined to finish my BS, and found out that I loved pairing my crystals with plants.

& I think plants might like to collect crystals too... because before I knew it, I had SO MANY. Both of these facets of Earth really drew me in and assisted in my mental and physical healing processes.

(I now have a BS in Agricultural Communications with a minor in Plant Science from Cal Poly SLO and aim to be back in school again for my MBA soon! Onwards and upwards, not a day alive taken for granted)

The first version of this business took off in 2016 in Morro Bay, California where an equally passionate partner and I were a part of a Local Artisan Collective on the harbor ~ displaying amazing minerals for great prices alongside the beautiful work of various Central Coast artists for about a year.

From there, we hit the road and vended at gem shows and music festivals, such as Mountain Sol, Treasure Island, Northern Nights, and some small and large local gem shows.

The great reception of the collection and constant learning from my peers and clients kept me passionate!! I'm constantly upgrading my knowledge and education in the field ~ excited to share the love of minerals!

Since 2020, I have been striking out on my own as Quartz Gardener and as an educational consultant, gratefully carrying the many lessons from my time as part of Morro Minerals and now owner of Quartz Gardener with me.

These days, you can usually find me representing Heritage Auctions' Fine Mineral Department each year at the Tucson gem shows, where I also spend lots of time treasure hunting for the Quartz Gardener collection!

This way, I am able to meet my suppliers, who are sometimes also the miners, and ask all the questions my heart desires ~ making informed, ethical decisions from there, keeping in mind human rights, ecological impact, and still, always, amazing Earth art aesthetics to inspire and humble us ~*~*~*

I am also currently a part time substitute teacher when I'm not working with my plants or gems!

Kids tend to love these things too so sometimes its both/all of the above :)
